Excellent tune. Thank you! I'm from the D.C. area. I've never heard of this label. A quick Goggle search yields no information on the history or existence of this record company. Does NEB's stand for North East Beat, as in NE. Washington, D.C.?
Jem....I don't know what the label name refers to. It was owned by a man named Never Duncan, who may have also been Johnson's manager. Dicky Williams produced all her pre-Stax recordings.

ReplyDeleteNow that I think about it, seems very possible that "Neb" is a diminutive of "Never". Perhaps that's what folks called Mr. Duncan?
