I'm running behind as usual....

Here's one of King Solomon's bluesier outings. I'm still looking for info on this guy, so if anyone knows anything beyond his discography, please let me know. I'll remind you this is not Solomon King, or [King] Solomon Burke, or King Solomon Hill....it's someone else. The liner notes on his only album mention that he's from Louisiana, but most of the records look to be out of California. There's a comp out called, "You Ain't Nothing But a Teenager", which might have some info on it, but I'm not gonna buy it just for that. I already own almost every song the man recorded.

Looks like I chose the wrong record to try out my new black background on. Stupid scanner seems to have a mind of it's own lately.

Another one that's shakin' up the household at the moment.

I still know virtually nothing about this guy. Only that most of his records are on California labels and that the liner notes on his only album say that he was from Louisiana. Any info would be most appreciated.

I think they were hoping to get serious air-play off this one, it has that 'mixed for AM radio' sound.

I'm sick, have been since Monday. All brain activity monitors should be reset to 'micro' levels.

The Austin record convention was a little disappointing. There were half as many vendors as usual [by decree], with most 45 dealers opting to go to the show in Allentown PA. [scheduled the same weekend].

I'm not knockin' the organizers or really even the event itself. In some ways the convention was nicer than it has been in the past, it was just small. A problem which should be remedied when the show opens at a new location next fall.

Anyway, none of this really mattered as I could probably find records in Antarctica....and Austin ain't no Antarctica. Half of what I bought came from local shops.

Recently, I had my radar re-tuned to pick up on King Solomon's funkier 45's.....blip blip blip, I located this beauty within 5 minutes of coming into range.

Talkin' that moon talk..

I've been going through my 45's trying to get them organized. I'm convinced the silly things purposely re-shuffle themselves in the middle of the night just to irritate me. Clearly, that's their idea of fun.

The up-side of this re-ordering is that I've found a few things I forgot I owned and/or don't remember buying. Keep in mind that, on average, I bring home fifty 45's a month....sometimes, a lot more than that...but never less than twenty five or thirty.

Anyway, here's one of my 'new' discoveries, a record I'm shocked to have over-looked. I must have got it for cheap because I'm sure I'd remember paying the usual going rate.

King Solomon [not to be confused with King Solomon Burke, King Solomon Hill, or even Solomon King] recorded a string of good to great singles on a lengthy roster of obscure labels in the late sixties/early seventies. It's almost as if everything he did qualifies as a 'one-off'. His only album was issued on the Celestial label.

Other than that, it's difficult to find any info. The liner notes to the album say he was born in Louisiana, but most of the labels he recorded for were located on west coast, which may or may not be meaningful.

Anyone got more info?...cause I'm stumped.
