You knew this was coming....didn't you?
This goes out to my beloved Nana [RIP] for letting me scratch up her records from the time I was barely out of diapers. There was copy of the album "Hate To See You Go" in her house that's now in my collection.
To my mind, this is a totally obvious record to play. I figure if you don't already own a collection of Little Walter then there must be something seriously wrong with you. On the other hand, going for the obvious in this context isn't necessarily a bad thing. After all, when was the last time you heard a worn out copy of the 45?
The song gives me chills every time I hear it. That's after literally hundreds of plays. Mostly it's the harp solo, truly one of the most amazing few seconds ever recorded.
Hope ya'll enjoy....
Outstanding tune. I have this on several different collections. It's great to hear it playing on a 45. I think this now my favorite way to hear this song. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteI appreciae the work you put in on this musicology. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've heard this on a whole bunch of remasters, I think your 45 rip has something none of the others have.
ReplyDeleteAs it happens this is my favorite Little Walter record (unless you count "Still A Fool") and I've played it about five or six times this week. Nice to hear it among friends!
Thanks!
