Music pouring out like rain...

I've owned this record for some time; long enough for it to get shuffled to the back of the stack at least once. It happens. Even with records you really love.

Last weekend, a friend in Austin was playing the hell out of his newly acquired copy....and I noticed every single time it hit the turntable, I got chills. Yep, this record has that kind of effect on me. I think it's absolutely gorgeous.

So, before it gets over-played around the house once again, I figure I should post it.

Think of it as a kiss blown in the wind, to all of you out there.

  3. Going by the matrix number it's from April 1966

Dating New Orleans 45's is a nightmare as so few of them got any publicity outside the city.
Fortunately many of them were distributed through Dover Distribution who used their own
numbering system for all the labels they handled. I really appreciate you posting label
scans as it's helping me put together a list
of all the releases put out by Dover distributed labels - it's all starting to make sense now.

  4. That date makes much more sense to me Davie. It's more in line with what I would have guessed. Thanks for correcting the info. I got 1964 off a site which makes no claim to being 100% correct. As you say, the dating on some of these records is difficult at best.

Since you seem to have more access to info than I, could you possibly take a look at the record I posted by Bobby Brown on Eight Ball? It's a very rare record, the earliest release on that label. Unlike all other Eight Balls it was not distributed by Dover.

If you check the comments on the post you'll see than Dan Phillips and I were pondering the 45 at one time. He thinks it's probably from 1963...I think it might be earlier.

  5. Wow, great record. And apparently rare as hell as the only copy I could find for sale had an asking price of $250. Way too rich for my blood but your mp3 sounds fine.

  6. Yeah, it's a rare one Yankee Boy. Maybe even more importantly, it's in high demand. But just so you don't get the wrong idea, I paid much much less than that for my copy.
