She had to left town.....

Given that this 45 has been sitting in my 'to post' pile for months, I thought I should put it out there before a certain 'about to be posted' comp makes it redundant. The actual 45 is a tough-ish find.

I could be wrong but I think this is Sonny Boy Williamson's only release on Ace.

Hope ya'll enjoy.....

  2. Ditto for me! This is great (and one of the best of the Trumpet outtakes), as is the Sailor Boy from yesterday. Love the crackling 45 sound.

  3. Glad ya'll like it.

Irving...I was wondering how this record showed up on Ace. I didn't realize it's from the Trumpet sessions. Thanks for the clue.

  4. I'm thinking Johnny Vincent was leasing from various labels before he started recording and issuing all the N.O. stuff. That's how Elmore James and Lightnin' Hopkins ended up on Ace. . . . Great music however it happened.

  5. Irving...Trumpet was also based in Jackson Miss. Vincent used the studio in Miss Lillian's Trumpet Music Store to cut demo's......

N.O. recordings were on the label from the first. The second release was by Little Bo [Eddie Bo]. Two 45s by Earl King were issued that same year.

  7. This is a pretty special record (guess all his recordings are), must get a good collection of the Trumpet recordings. Bit of digging around on the web apparently he was recycling Mighty Long Time for this one. According to this site http://www.sonnyboy.com/index.php?p=albumsongs&a=TPT it appears to be the B side & from 1954.
